OVERVIEW

The Masonic Charitable Foundation is seeking an experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to join the Impact & Evaluation Team. The post holder will support the delivery of monitoring and evaluation activity for all grantmaking and support programmes provided by the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) and wider analysis of operational activity in other departments.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to work closely with the Impact & Evaluation Manager to monitor and evaluate a broad range of support areas via individual and organisational grants, based on research and best practice from the sector regarding measuring impact of grants and services on individuals, families, charities and their beneficiaries.

We are seeking an individual who will bring their own ideas, past experiences and new ways of working to the role. The successful candidate will be ensure useful data is collected and analysed, using qualitative and quantitative skills, and reported accurately to contribute to MCF’s understanding and measurement of strategic aims and organisational development.

KEY PROJECTS

·       Analyse management information to identify strengths and weaknesses in our application processes, highlighting areas for improvement and of concern regarding service delivery standards.

·       Produce high quality statistical reports, in multiple formats, suitable for presentation to colleagues, Committees and other stakeholders.

·       Provide insights into the operational and strategic implications of the data and recommendations for improvements to our support packages.

·       Establish systems that collect and analyse data and information, including working with colleagues internally and externally to evolve databases and introducing additional systems where necessary.

·       Support the delivery of the monitoring and evaluation plan for the MCF that measures outcomes and outputs using suitable identified/designed indicators (including external validated tools) that result in proven impact of our activities.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

1.     Degree level or equivalent training in social research methods (e.g. quantitative and qualitative)

2.     Proven track record of collecting, analysing and presenting evaluation data to a high standard.

3.     Experiences of using qualitative and quantitative data to drive organisational improvement.

4.     Carrying out primary data collection using a variety of methods such as focus groups, surveys and interviews with service users.

5.     Building constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as colleagues and external providers.

6.     Expertise in qualitative and qualitative research methods, including research design and sampling and undertaking fieldwork and analysis.

7.     Experience of using spreadsheets, pivot tables and database programmes for capturing and reporting data.

 

Desirable

1.     Applying new or innovative approaches to monitoring and evaluation within a grantmaking organisation.

2.     Commissioning evaluations or research.

3.     Understanding about Theory of Change (or similar)

4.     An understanding of UK health, social care systems or UK household poverty issues.

5.     Understanding of the current M&E trends, ideally in charitable grantmaking.

6.     Project planning.
